We developed The Learning Ascent summer reading program for kids in Batavia, Geneva, Elgin and St. Charles that want fun and parents who want to give their children the best opportunity for success. Over 50 years of independent research shows that your choice of summer activity will either leave your child behind (summer "brain drain") or put them far ahead of their peers.

Our Summer Reading Program combines fun, personalized tutoring and award-winning software in an integrated learning system that includes formative assessment and individualized instruction. With Learning Ascent, your child will:

Learning Ascent’s Reading Comprehension curriculum is research-based and aligned with education standards. It provides students with explicit instruction which that each lesson includes an interactive tutorial before the student is asked to perform or demonstrate Reading skill proficiency.
The Learning Ascent content is provided in an engaging, interactive and high impact learning environment, and students work with real world, relevant examples. Learning Ascent’s Reading curriculum comprises over 1,500 tutorials and activities. The Reading instruction is designed to develop literacy, meet NCLB guidelines and improve standardized test scores. The Learning Ascent curriculum covers:
- Phonics: Form relationships between letters and sounds of spoken language
- Basic Sight Words: Recognize common sight words to increase reading fluency
- Vocabulary: Expand vocabulary to communicate more effectively
- Reading Comprehension: Actively construct meaning when reading both fiction and non-fiction passages.
